This is a gentle hike for kids and adults. Very low elevation gain with fun bridges, chipmunks, butterflies and water to observe. The hike is less than 5 miles and is a loop with no side trails to cut across as you follow the river so bring plenty of water and good walking shoes.

The bugs were insane. Little guy got tired and we were tired of swatting the mosquitos so we did not complete the loop. Will definitely try again when it’s cooler and we can wear more layers.

We really enjoyed this hike! We did this hike with our 4 year old 5 days ago, we felt like we took a wrong turn but we finally got to the trailhead at 9 am where there were a handful of cars. Since it’s a loop we let our son pick which way he chose left. It was nice and easy lots of birds and chipmunks and plant life to discuss keeping the little guy busy. Plenty of places to break for snacks and dip your toes in the river. There’s a great swimming hole at Rock Island campground with a vault toilet and water fountain about 2/3 way around(if you go left) It was hot and a good 1/3 of the hike was not shaded which is why we went early. All in all I highly recommend and the full parking lot when we got back tells I’m not the only one!

Beautiful views on this easy trail. You can even easily go off roading and down to the water for some really incredible views. The only thing is, the road leading up to the parking lot for the trail! For about a mile and a half you’re just on gravel dirt road and my small little car did not appreciate it.

Beautiful trail with lots of short branch offs that give amazing views of the water. In a few places along the trail you can actually get in the water. Very easy trail, well worth the trip

I really hated this hike. Honestly, I’m giving it an extra star only because my husband actually really like it. You’d have to ask him why, I don’t know. The river is pretty, but you are only hiking next to it for part of the hike and can only access it at a few points to cool off. The trail is damn hot. A lot of sun exposure, no breeze, and the ground gets too hot for dog feet in many spots. Bring booties for your dog or be prepared to carry him through these sections. This trail is also very crowded and you hike through a large campground for part of the time which is just so weird. Not for me.

Beautiful views all around. Heavily trafficked. Very easy hike, good for families, groups, and dogs.

Beautiful, easy walk along the river with some educational placards placed along the trail. Bumpy gravel road to get to the TH. Only drawback was the mosquitos. Spray down with bug spray before you leave home cause they are on you the moment you open your car door in the parking lot.

A pleasant 4.4 mile trail. Gentle elevation gain. Good for kids if the distance isn’t too far. Beautiful scenery with the mountains and river.

6/22/2018 late morning start after doing the Ridge trail. Awesome easy rated hike and tracked closer to 4 miles on my garmin. A few flowers were in bloom some wild roses found in places. Very busy trail as advertised great for all ages and some areas at the main TH that work even for strollers as we chanced upon several young families. Quite a few marked entrances to the trail off the main road so no need to go to the main parking area and TH particularly as we found it full and parked on roadside as many did. There is a bathroom facility at TH. Trail features several bridges and some nice photo spots. Little buggier some mosquito so bug spray recommended. Great hike for all including those that like to trail run but if that's your thing go early morning to avoid the masses. We enjoyed the hikers we met along the way, very friendly.

Gorgeous trail and easy going. You’re alongside Icicle Creek the whole time and there are some great views of the water and surrounding mountains. Lots of families going through. Lots of mosquitos so beware.

Great moderate hike with views of a little bit of everything. There was a little bit of mud but not too bad and really easy to avoid. The scenery was beautiful. There was a moderate amount of traffic but not too busy. Definitely would go again!

The trail has a nice scenic view with moderate amount of walk. we had a baby is a carrier and it is still a good walk and not too difficult. please make sure you have a mosquito repellent cream for the baby, as few parts of the trail can get difficult without.

Such a lovely hike. Well maintained trail, relatively flat with almost no elevation. Easy on the knees! Water was high and fast. Didn’t have a problem with bugs on the trail. Greenery, , views, wildflowers and the constant sound of water while hiking made it worth the drive to get to. Recommend to all.

it was easy on our bad knees but still gave us a bit of exercise. easy elevations was what made the knees be able to continue without any pain to speak of. and the wildflowers were gorgeous this time of year (May.)

Hiked today. The trail was super wet in parts and some of the bridges were down, but I was still able to hike it all. No snow right now. Still as pretty as ever!
