This is a gentle hike for kids and adults. Very low elevation gain with fun bridges, chipmunks, butterflies and water to observe. The hike is less than 5 miles and is a loop with no side trails to cut across as you follow the river so bring plenty of water and good walking shoes.

Hiked with the kiddos, 5, 10x2, and 2 adults. Stopped plenty along the way to pick flowers and admire the beautiful mountain and river views. Took us about 2.5 hours moving slowly.

I walk this trail every Sunday with my dog. It is easy with some elevation involved great for a nice walk and burn some calories as well. Walk along the river, shaded trees in places and sometimes see a deer or two. I live around here and this place is my go too.

Hiked this trail a week or so back while visiting from Minnesota. Awesome trail and the views are amazing. Not a tough hike by any means. It is tricky to get to once you get past the pavement. The dirt road is a bit rough but worth your while to take your time and do this loop!

River loop 5/6. I'd never been here before, it's nice but I thought the trail is a little overrated. Road is fully open though hallelujah. Very little snow remaining on the trail, just a few patches. Saw crocuses, lanceleaf, trout lilies, and trilium in bloom.

Hiked Fri 5/5/17. Note: still snowy in patches. Recommend waterproof boots with good traction and poles. Beautiful views of Icicle Creek rapids from both sides. You cross a bridge and several smaller footbridges along the 4 miles. At places, trees are down and you have to climb over or under or around. Though you don't ascend in elevation, we would consider this difficult for anyone with limited mobility, because if the branches, roots, mud (and current snow pack). Having said that, it's a fantastic 2 hour hike for able bodied hikers who want fantastic ins and outs near rapids. And the views of the snow caps at times are breathtaking. Trail has lovely rocks lining edge at points. And educational signs. At some points, it's hard to discern which way to go at forks, and we ended up on the road for a bit. A stream has overrun the path. (Glad road was nearby.). Wildflowers are not in bloom yet at Icicle Gorge. Wonderful place! Highly recommend. Big Caution; driving out to trail head is difficult, once the paved road ends, you have 8 more miles to drive to trail head. Very very bumpy. Pot holes. Deep puddles. Wreaks havoc on your car. But totally worth it!
