An out and back trail that is right along the river. Great views of the water and excellent birding as well. Whitewater Kayaks also put in here as there is a check in station for them at the trailhead. Remember your Forest Pass. During the summer and on weekends this one can get pretty busy since it is right off the road and near a large camp ground.

Nice easy to moderate, well-maintained riverside trail. We only went a mile in of the trail, but it was mostly dry with a few isolated muddy spots. We only saw a few other people on the trail, so quiet for an early October weekday.

A lovely well maintained trail through a lush forest with almost continuous views of a wild river. Nice little sandy areas snug the trail make for great photo opportunities as well as.....ahhhhhh!

I would not call it a hike. Next to Douglas fir campground it’s a walk along the powerful river with lots of greenery and moss around.

Good hike along the river. There are a Few areas where the river pools so people or dogs can safely jump in. At the far end of the trail it is getting overgrown and there is no clear turn around but overall a fun hike.

Really nice trail. The first part was flat and wide, but later it narrows and is a bit overgrown in spots. With the second half (up and down) it felt more like a moderate hike. Amazing views of the river the whole way, done from steep cliffs, and other parts low enough to get in.

Made for an incredibly scenic and technical trail run! First third of the trail is pretty flat followed by a series of ups and downs. A few spots were muddy but manageable. Would highly recommend - bring a good pair of shoes!

I loved this hike, took my son when he was a month old in my Boba. Very easy hike, and absolutely beautiful with the river running along side the trail almost the whole way. We continued past the end of the trail and it leads you to an old logging road. We walked up that for a bit too, but turned around at the landing. Great view of the valley that leads to Silver Lake

I always drive past this when I drive up to Mt. Baker. Today I spent the time to walk it. I’m glad I did. Beautiful trail

Good hike, a lot of up and down after you cross under the power-lines. Further out you go the stepper it can get. We ended going a bit further then end, right down to the river, on some goat trail. down tree's blocking the path. I don't recommend going past the end maker

I took six kids ages 5-16 and we loved this trail. Absolutely beautiful scenery around the river. If you do the 2.8 mile out and back it is definitely not easy, but moderate.

This is a really nice trail, with lovely views of the river, but the second half is very overgrown. Also, the constant ups and downs and steep scrambles are fine for seasoned hikers, but might surprise others given the “easy” rating of the hike. Moderate would be more appropriate.

trail was in great shape! lots of people swimming and trail running.

Very easy but very beautiful. No snow or anything, just muddy in places. The river looks amazing. We had the trail basically To ourselves this weekend. We were hoping for some kind of view point at the horseshoe but could find anything. So the trail sort of petered our at the end. Still, a great walk in the woods.

I found this to be a great hike for an older newcomer to hiking. The trail is beautiful all the way. The first two-thirds is quite easy and the last third gets more hilly. I think this is a good trail for a newbie to gauge their own stamina/skill on forest trails before going off on a tougher hike you find you may not be able to enjoy. If you can make it all the way to the end and back without skipping a beat, then you are ready for bigger things If you struggle on the last third of the trail, then keep on conditioning before heading off on more strenuous trails.

Really, really beautiful. I’m used to harder hikes and did this one with my mom and carrying my 3 year old on my back in her hiking pack and managed just fine. The first mile is so easy and goes fast. From there there are a few steep humps and trees down near the end that you have to climb over. The creek was a nice way to cool off and swim and the huckleberries are in and so beautiful. Will probably do this one again when looking for an easier escape into nature

Great trail. The 1st mile is easy going with places to stop along the river. After that the trail narrows and has a number of very short but steep up&down sections. It was raining pretty good this morning and the trail was becoming very slippery on the inclines. Turned around about 2 miles in due to not wanting to slip & fall because of the muddy conditions. Plan to return on a sunny day to go all the way to the end & do some photography. Spectacular beauty along this river trail.
