Great easy walk. Flora, fauna everywhere - excellent little learning adventure. Views of the wetlands and Hood Canal. Can get relatively close to wildlife without disturbing - we enjoyed the baby geese and always enjoy salmon territory. Kid friendly - even toddler approved.

Nature tripsGreat!

Great area for exploration right in our own Washington, Mason County. If you want to walk all the trails, it's best to do it during the summertime when most of the trails aren't washed out from water levels.

Very nice and easy trail system. Wide, clear walking paths through the marshes. Many flora and fauna explanatory signs. Beautiful views, lots of birds and flowers. Restrooms at beginning and near the end. No dogs allowed.

Most of the trail still closed. Nice viewing from elevated boardwalk to the wetlands. About 1/2 mile from trailhead to end of boardwalk.

My kids and I love this trail (ages 5 & 2). It’s really convenient for us. Nice and flat for them to run and play, plus the playground at the beginning helps for nap time later! The dock lookout is a bonus.

Not a lot of water to see in an estuary during low tide, but very well-maintained and easy-to-hike, gravel and boardwalk trails. Wheelchair-friendly, too. Lots of places to sit and listen to the birds and enjoy the fresh air and marvel at the grasslands. My favorite part was coming across a path with roses growing wild and bees buzzing so merrily within the bushes that they didn’t even care I was taking pictures.

Found out about this little Trail living right across the road and up the street. The only problem is NO DOGS ALLOWED!! Cute little area things- need to be brought up to date. NO public restroom- twice have visited and found human waste right on the playground!!! which my dogs have found and rolled in it and I was absolutely upset !!! this has happened twice now I will NEVER go back.... but it is a cute little area.

Walking

Nice walking trail, not really a hike. Portions of the trail are closed and the boardwalks are icy early in the day so I recommend good traction and possibly walking poles. A little hard to locate as signage isn’t great but park near the Early Learning center and the trail head is at the far part of the parking lot. Nice pace, enjoyed the scenery and even saw a bald eagle.

I'd give this a 5 star, but the bathrooms at the entrance are still closed due to vandalism. I bring my grandkids here often, we love all the trails and especially the center trail on the boardwalk out to the marsh overlook. My granddaughter loves to take pics of the swallows and my grandson just loves the peace and quiet.

Easy walk for two adults plus a third grader with no discernible elevation gain. The bathrooms at the entrance were closed due to vandalism, which is sad. However, the pit bathroom near the turnaround point of the River Estuary Trail was open, and a welcome respite. Lots of great birds to see, a couple really huge sturgeon hanging out in the shallows, as well as one white sturgeon making its way up the river. Very low tide.

Drove there only to find out dogs are not allowed.  Suggest adding "not pet friendly" to the "kid friendly" "hiking","walking", etc info blocks.
