HikingGreat!

I have hiked many trails. This should be more in the moderate range as I usually don't hit max VO2 unless a trail is hard. i hit it for 18 minutes on this. I did walk from the ferry landing to the trailhead and back but the anaerobic portion was Guemes Mt.

We were caught unaware with the road to the trail head being closed. We did not realize there was another way to the trail head. So we walked from the park. When we hit the trail head it was a wonderful hike mostly uphill. There were several stops along the way where you could sit. The summit was absolutely glorious and made the whole trip worth it. I’ve been going to Guemes island for years and I did not know this existed.

The views at the top are amazing... but this is NOT an easy trail. The climb up is steep and relentless. That’s how we described this trail...relentless!You are pretty much hiking at a steep(ish) incline the entire time. The hike down was hard on the knees as well. We didn’t take our trekking poles but definitely wish we would have. I would not say this hike is friendly for all, especially if you have serious knee issues. But, other than that, it was beautiful and we really enjoyed the views at the top. Would definitely recommend.

HikingGreat!

We biked on and biked off the ferry, did a 10ish mile loop on the island with lunch at the park on the north end and then rode here, locked up the bikes, and hiked to the top. Pretty steep, but the pay off is NICE!!

took the trail and had lunch at the top. the views are spectacular. some people may call this an easy hike oh, I beg to differ. 95% of the hike is uphill and has roots and rocks exposed to your feet. if you go slow everything is great. we saw for groups while on the trail. had a wonderful time and the bologna sandwich tasted wonderful at the top of the hill.

Took a group of middle school girls there for the day. We walked from the ferry station. About 5mi total. The Guemes Store sells Lopez Island Ice Cream! A great stop afterwards

Great family trail that is easy with great views...and a little bit of "adventure" catching the small ferry to Guemes island.

Easy uphill climb on good trail. Great for kids and dogs which were seen during my visit. A great place for lunch on a clear day. Snow covered mountains and islands themselves make for a rewarding summit.

We started up the trail at a little after 11am. Just one other hiker at the summit — from which the view was magnificent. However traffic increased significantly soon thereafter, including a group with a drone, trampling all over the tranquility. Boo. Still a beautiful, quick and easy hike with a gazillion dollar view from the summit. We planned to stick around for a bit and see if any eagles showed up but that was unlikely with that horrible drone buzzing around.

Nice way to spend the day! I took the ferry over and walked from the ferry landing, probably added nearly 4 miles to the walk, made for a great hike/walk. The area is beautiful as are the views from the top. Good hike to take a dog on.

Great views in a short distance. Uphill with switchbacks going in and downhill going out. Good hike for those who want to hike but may not be completely fit and ready for more advanced hikes.

I've been on the island since 1958 as a part-time resident. I never explored this area... it was beautiful! I have terrible knees so was apprehensive about this short hike in September. I went anyway and probably was a tiny bit slower than some, but for a 71 year old it was easy. Most noticeable and impressive was that there was not one single bit of trash: paper, bottles and caps, cigarette butts AND most importantly, no dog poop! I wish I had explored this part of the island when I was 12 years old!

It is more than just the hike but the overall adventure of getting there. I took the short ferry ride to Guemes Island and stopped in at Anderson's General Store where I reserved a bike to ride to the trail. It is a lovely bike ride along quite roads. The hike itself is no too long and fairly easy, although it did get my heart rate up The trail is beautifully maintained and you walk mostly under tall trees with peek a boo water views. Once to the top the view is beautiful. You look out over islands of the San Juans. It's a must do if you are in the area.

Nice, Well Maintained trail, With a couple of breathtaking views at the summit. Good cardio as well if you keep your pace steady. Community walking sticks at the base which is pretty quaint. Saw three groups today, but only in passing. Uncrowded. I would call this a beginner trail.

This 2.3 mile out-and-back hike is a great way to spend an hour on the island. The views at the top are stunning and, if you like hiking, you will not regret making this journey. You might be saying that 500 feet of elevation gain is not much but it is only over the course of 1.15 miles and it's the highest point of the island so you both get an okay workout and the best view around. We showed up around 11 am on a Saturday and had no issues parking. We ran into two groups coming down while we hiked up and saw one group at the top when we arrived. On our way down we didn't run into anyone else. The only reason this hike gets a 4/5 is because if you stop walking you will be attacked by swarms of bugs. Taking a break along the way is not a good idea so if that child whines I recommend picking them up because they'll be whining louder when the bugs show up!

Turned out to be a beautiful afternoon and perfect for hiking. I was surprised to find many people on the trail today. The wildflowers are starting to bloom. At the top, the view of the other islands in the San Juans is absolutely spectacular. It does appear that work is being done to build another trail on the opposite side.
