Great trail. We were the only ones on it today. You have to park at the Madison Falls Trailhead and walk in because the road is washed out. Fantastic views from the lookout points...when the clouds aren't too bad. At about .10 of a mile to go to the top there is a massive tree down covering the trail. We could have gone around but it was really wet and it was starting to rain more. Extremely peaceful trail and a great workout!

This trail is very quiet and you are likely to have it all to yourself. Because it isn’t traveled much, there is a lot of growth and debri covering many parts, but most of it was clear and dry. Toward the top we encountered snow and mudslide areas making it hard to cross - but not impossible. 4.7 is. a perfect distance for such a vertical climb but beware, you have to walk 2.5 miles to the trailhead due to the road being washed out. Also note, the trailhead is located behind the abandoned ranger station. There aren’t any signs from the road.
