I'm not sure why this is considered hard other than possibly for the miles. First few miles through the forest is a nice warm up and only (what feels like) a slight climb. Once you start getting towards the top you'll find some beautiful views. The caveat is the top of Green Mountain doesn't have as good of views as the trail about .5 before the top. Today's fall weather with no rain I still came across some muddy areas and pools of water but nothing you can't step around easily. You'll also find lots of areas where it's rocky lose stones so beware of those areas and tread lightly. What I found going back down to the left was a old car accident flipped over and abandoned. There was no roads around the incident and would be interested to know the back story behind that. Overall it's a nice hike, the only reason it get's knocked down one star was if you were expecting an amazing view at the top, be slightly disappointed. But the trail is well maintained and an enjoyable hike that doesn't leave you exhausted. I would personally consider this a moderate level trail..

This trail definitely earns its hard rating with the countless rocky hills and distance. We ended up counting 10 miles because there weren't any clear signs as to where the trail was headed next. Also, be aware of motocrossers and horse poop! The view at the top is great, and you can see Seattle! Check it out!

This is a very unique trail that’s for sure. It’s a multi use area so be aware of everything! I only came across two horse riders and one mountain biker though the entire time I was out there. The trail is a bit confusing though. Go left when you get to the horse camp to find the next part of the trail. I ended up on Beaver Pond then had to use Gold Creek to reconnect with Wildcat. Turned into a 12 mile instead of a 8 mile but hey I needed the miles. It’s dog friendly and my pups had a blast. Bring lots of water because water sources are far apart. Great hike overall. Wouldn’t call it hard though.

Good trail, not well marked. Signs of heavy traffic but this was Wednesday and I only saw three people. Very clean! Rate it as medium.

I went up Wildcat Tr. came down Beaver Tr. and back to Wildcat Tr. (10 mi. by my phone.) Great exercise. Heard tree frogs and owls. Lots of motocross. Lots of dogs. Saw trillium and woodpecker. The top is not very well marked. Some views degraded by logging. Cool rocks on the trails.

Trail is dry. Most traffic concentrated near Green Mountain Vista, but minimal traffic overall. Saw about a half dozen dirt bikers, a couple mountain bikers, and two horseback riders. Trail was fine enough but probably not one I’d do again unless the conditions are keeping me out of the Olympics or Cascades. Also, it's pretty disingenuous to say this trail features a river. It's also not a "hard" hike in my opinion.

Did this hike during the snow storms. Everything was pretty with snow. The snow did add an added element of difficulty. Amazing picture opportunities all over the trail. Go on a decent visibility day so that you can see Seattle.

decided to finally do this hike, ive been on connecting trails but never did this actual trail, was a rainy morning but the trail was in easily done with trekking poles, not alot of summit views most people want but, you do get some peak a boo views of some mountains not far off, I would do this hike again just for the distance and terrain. discover pass or america the beautiful pass required or park outside parking area and walk no more then .1 mile into parking area.

My sons and I do this hike a lot. Great hike all year long with spectacular views at the top. Weekends usually are dirt bike heavy but generally good mannered riders. It’s our go-to place and never disappoints.

Great hike. We went on a rainy day so we didn’t get the amazing views. The trail is muddy in places but pretty well maintained. We did the entire 9.3 miles and only ran into one set of motorbikes. It was stormy and windy on the ridge, which made it more of an adventure.

Cool walk, great trail to bring the dog out for the day. There are sometimes ATV riders headed to/from the top, otherwise fairly quiet. Views of Seattle from afar on a clear day.

Local trail that has endless opportunities. Great trail to take our dog for a hike when time is limited.

Novice mountain biker but above average athleticism... Went on a clear day and had spectacular views of Mount Rainier, beautiful Bremerton, and Seattle on the horizon . Ascent was a killer on a bike but the descent was a little more challenging than I thought it would be, especially on the lose gravel. Hikers all moved aside and were friendly. Came close to running into two other bikers though so use those bells!!!

Bummed out. Went here to check out the hike and it requires a discovery pass to park and use the trail. Just FYI get the discovery pass before you go! Otherwise ill be checking it out sometime.

Seems like it's a good time for this hike. Trail is bone dry aside from some mudholes, which is very different from the running streams crossing it in numerous places over winter and spring (though even then it was still very fun). The temperature drifted towards 80 so it was pretty toasty on the exposed parts of the trail, but in the more densely-forested areas the canopy kept it very comfortable, almost cool. Not too many people on the trail; maybe four total dirtbikes, a handful of bicycles, and no ATVs.

Great hike. We went up Wildcat and back down beaver pond. It was about 9.5 miles. The bikes and 4 wheelers weren’t that bad. It is definitely a shared trail, everyone was polite.
