hiked 12/23/19 You'll need tire chains to go up. Snowshoes, skis, maybe microspikes would work for the hike. The incline is pretty manageable but challenging. Visibility was pretty mediocre the day we went despite a clear forecast, so just be prepared for changing conditions. We managed it in about a 1.5-2 hours. Poles definitely wouldve been nice to have. Plenty of skiers and snowboarders coming down from camp muir.

Very pretty. Bring your spikes or skis; they're useful for trekking up some icy patches. Mostly snow covered. It was very cloudy when we went up, but the weather changes quickly so we got some clear shots.

Love this trail. Went with my 4 and 6 year old, its steep for them the first 30min, but this is a good trail that teach them hard work pays off, in this case, awesome good view and relatively less steep as you go up. its hot on a late August afternoon. We did it with a lot of picture time, on kids speed, total 2.5 hours for this miles loop.

Embarrassed by how hard the first section was, but pushed through to some unbeatable views. Is the air thinner up here?! Lots of marmots and chipmunks out. A lightning storm east of the mountain stayed well enough away, but made for some awesome cloud views on the way down.

Teens/ kids I was with did great, I on the other hand have not hiked all year and struggled , heavy gain in the beginning with lots of resting spots and then yes it levels out. Worth every step for that Mountain View. Wear bug spray- got bit a few times by mosquitos.

not as kid friendly as we had hoped. 5 year old struggled going up the steep incline but enjoyed the marmots and the wildflowers. a little bit of snow covered a few spots but mostly rocky incline or asphalt incline. lots and lots of people, we had to park 0.9 miles from the trailhead and that added another 500 feet incline.

Done this route twice, once as a smoker and the second time as not. This walk will get your heart going no matter who you are. The views will take your breath away!

Beautiful views on a clear day. Hiked this yesterday. Some steeper areas, but worth it. Amazing Autumn colors. Dress accordingly, weather changes quickly up there.

Very pretty, start of trail is paved, and steep, then levels out.

Was looking to hike Morain trail, but we ended up a much prettier hike. We took off from Visitor center, followed skyline and hooked up with Dead Horse Creek and straight up to Glacier Vista and return on Skyline down. We got as close as the Glacier meeting the tree line. The entire trip has great view of Mt Rainer. The first mile is rather steep, but ease up after that. We took lots of break. Could have done this in 1.5 hour or less.

Hiked this trail about two weeks ago. Unfortunately the trail was covered in fog so I can’t comment on the view. The initial climb is in good condition but large patches of snow blocked decent parts of the trail after that. Climbing up through the snow can be tiring, though it’s not terribly hard.

AMAZING views! Tough walk for the kids. We had so much fun! Still a good amount of snow on the trail despite Temps in the 90s. Got only 4 stars only because it was insanely crowded. Walked in crowds almost the whole way.

The Dead Horse Creek portion of this loop is still covered in a ton of snow. Be careful! The views are amazing and there is definitely wildlife around. Found a couple of paw prints in the snow from a mountain lion.

Hiked on 7/30 in the AM. Fairly easy and enjoyable hike with spectacular views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding ranges (included distant views of Mount Hood and Mount St Helens). The loop trail starts (and ends) paved and transitions to hard-pack dirt about halfway through the hike. Towards the Glacier Vista Lookout there's still a bit of snow (including a small ~50 foot patch you'll have to hike over). There's about 1000 foot of elevation gain - and the climbing starts right away, so be ready for a bit of uphill! The hike can absolutely be done in good hiking/trail shoes. Overall, I'd argue that this hike gives you the most "bang-for-your-buck" (for an easier hike) at Paradise - lots of wildflowers, spectacular views of Mount Rainier and surrounding ranges, views of waterfalls, and a close up look at the glacier. If you're an inexperienced hiker or short on time, I'd recommend this hike!
