Parking area very torn up by mud; my Wrangler even got almost stuck. Be mindful when parking. No signs on the route and well kept paths keep going in every direction, so it is quite confusing. We ended up walking very far away into no man’s land because of it. Well groomed and a beautiful waterfall area, but suggest reading lots of reviews to not get lost. Relatively muddy and was hailing during our hike today. Brought my 1 year old Berner and it was very doable.

Not a bad trail for families. Follow the gravel road to the rail car and make a left to head to the cemetery. The river trail was also a nice stroll to the water.

Sign says there was a landslide but the trail is still perfectly fine to walk on. Took my 5 and 7 year old, and they loved exploring!

Trail was in good shape! It is taped off going up to the cemetery but you can go past it. The landslide only took out about a foot of the trail. There were quite a few hikers out here today. The waterfalls were beautiful on the river part of the trail.

Finally a sunny day. Nice hike. Took the Right fork at the Coal cart. Some foundation parts on both sides about 1/2 mile up. Past that just old roads up in the hills. Took left fork after crossing creek, at next 2 forks went left at large boulder field and left at next fork. This completes a loop. At about 2 miles there is a large pile of black boulders. Good for a lunch break. Did 4.1 mile loop.

Not the prettiest trail, lots of blackberry and ivy that has taken over the hills. Invasive species abound. Fun to explore different trails watch kayakers in the river. The mining history was cool and the grave stones were alright but for me the best part was the Maid of The Mist Falls across the river. Don't forget to pay for your parking.

Beautiful hike and the waterfall runs over a little nook with a waiting pool in it. I went in the winter time but will definitely be back this summer to do some swimming and cliff jumping.

Parking lot a little sloppy. $5 per car. Trail wet and muddy in places. 1st trail down to river and trail portion from Franklin mine to cemetary are muddy. Several headstones among the blackberry bushes. Recent clearing performed by the Black Diamond Historical Society. Well worth the hike.

you can't legally/reasonably get to the falls anymore... trail to cemetery is still open.

So much fun was had here today. Many options to see different scenery in this walk, highly recommend!

Opted outside today with family & friends. Kids ranged from 6-12 and had no complaints! That’s a win! The road in was easy, parking was plentiful but pot holey. It’s $5 per car to just do the ghost town or $5 per person if you include a trip to see the waterfall on the other side of the road. It cost 3 of us $15. It’s worth it! We did the cemetery & town routes with trip down to the waterfall/river across from the parking lot and ended up at 5 miles just over 600 elevation. They are cleaning up and restoring all the trails and they added a port-a-potty at the split (coal cart) for the town & cemetery. Awesome views of Rainier today!

Cemetery restoration is underway and nice to honor those who passed. Please pay when you enter. $5 per person
