The trail follows Forest Service Road (FD) 38 along the Middle Fork Nooksack between the trailhead for Elbow Lake and the trailhead for Ridley Creek. From Nov 1 to Jul 1, this part of the road may be closed to motorized vehicles (to protect wildlife). Just before the Ridley Creek trailhead, take the trail to the left, which was FD 38 but is no longer maintained. The trail continues up through 1100 ft of elevation through a number of switchbacks to a summit that should offer good views of Baker and surrounding mountains.
