Great Ride! great views!

there are actually 30 miles of foothills trail but they are not connected at this time.

for the Puyallup/Orting/South Prairie trail if you start in puyallup you have about ten flat miles. the 500 feet of elevation occurs in the last 5 miles or so. this makes Puyallup my preference for biking or running starting point.

starting in Orting gives access to a parallel natural path but I have not made it that far lately as I have been running so I do not recall how long it is.

Easy paved trail, though we only went from E. Foothills to Orting HS (about 6.5 miles) for our first time out. Moderately busy with walkers and bikers both, but everyone was very friendly. :)

I used to rollerblade a lot in West Seattle. Is that something that is frowned upon from cyclists on this trail?

This is my favorite "go to" for biking. I like to start in Puyallup and ride to South Prairie for a coffee break. A nice 30 miles.

I love the foothills trail as a twice weekly routine. It's a very nice and safe bike path that provides 30 miles of round-trip bicycle exercise.

Great trail, excellent views, easy riding. Remember to stop at Trailside coffee in South Prairie for a berry smoothie.

any paved trail should not be claimed as difficult. it was disappointing.

This bike ride was boring, nothing really to look at. Heavy traffic even for early in the morning. I have never walked this trail, only biked but not a trail I would choose to ride again.

Just like others have said, it is not a loop, there is not a lot of shade, it is not difficult (more of a walk/run/road bike trail than a hiking/mountain biking trail).

If you are looking for a difficult hike or mountain bike route, then I would give this one star. But I am giving it 5 stars based on the following:

-The trail is well kept.
-It is a great trail for road bikes, runners, and walkers alike-which is what I was looking for.
-There are a number of places to start from along the trail if you do not intend to travel the full distance.

Not enough to see

Long and flat with not much shade. I wouldn't recommend it in severe heat. It is great for putting in some serious mileage though. Great for biking or running! I'm not sure why this is rated as "difficult", unless it is for mileage.

Probably the best paved trail to ride a road bike. And they continue to extend and connect it.

It's a fantastic paved trail to run on. Not a loop, but continues onto Orting and South Prairie! We started our run in Puyallup and continued on for 4 miles, then ran back to the parking lot. It was definitely hot! Not much shade, but if you're on the trail and too hot, there is an organic farm whose employees let you use the facilities and were kind enough to give us water :) Not much in the way of a "hike" but a great paved way for runners, bikers, or skateboarders! I'd also not recommend running alone, at least when we went there were a few cat-callers that could make for an uncomfortable session. Also, it seemed in one area with dense trees, there might have been people living in there. Just always be cautious wherever you go!

First off, this is NOT a loop. Its an end to end from South Prairie to nearly Puyallup. Minus the distance, its all flat besides a small hill and i wouldn't even qualify this as a hike but merely a long walk. Its all paved and well maintained and parallels the highway most of the way. The bridge and river at the half way mark was the main attraction (for me) and I'd consider doing this again with a bike and a few friends for a decent workout. With so many other places to "hike" out there, why waste your time here with little views and a TON of people. Get out in the woods and live.

First time today- had a nice easy run. Am confused some. Can I part my can and run around and end up back at my car?

Not sure why they claim this is a loop or why they call it difficult. For that matter it's more of a walk than a hike, but it was pretty fun. My son,my dog and I walked 6 miles worth of it today. Decent trail. Not a lot of scenery but a nice walking trail.
