Didn't think about the creeks drying up when we went but was still a good hike! Ended up going a bit farther and doing around 9 miles. The trail wasn't too busy, long for younger kids but saw several families over a few hours.

The trailhead is very confusing and there were a number of shorter trails making up the longer loop which made for a very directionally challenged hike. Beautiful walk but easy to get lost

Hiked on a very sunny day. Not the right season if you are looking for some water. The area is completely dry. Would be a peaceful walk in the woods though.

Beautiful hike, very peaceful. No running water in the summer time though! Or at least this year.

Very quite the morning after Fourth of July. Beautiful woods to wander through. Dog loved it.

Well maintained easy to moderate hike. The waterfalls were nice.

Good hike, worth doing, bit really not much to see other than woods... the waterfall is nice. Lots of access and short cut paths to make the hike shorter or longer.

Excellent hike with some trail running on the easier sections. I added the Whitaker Wilderness Peak to Wilderness Creek loop that made it 8 miles and 2500 feet elevation gain. It was a good workout.

Well maintained trails and a beautiful setting! Only problem is the trail heads are confusing. We pooped around several times, and while we found the swamp and the mine shaft which were great, we never found the waterfalls. Ran into a couple other hikers with the same issue, haha.

Hiked on a Sunday evening, clockwise. Ran into a handful of hikers and one jogger. Most of the hike was pretty easy, except there were a few steep sections in the last mile or so. There is a decent view at the top. I would like to come back again to explore the falls, and maybe hike the opposite direction.

A beautiful hike for a sunny day. The trees give you just the right amount of cover so that you don't have the sun beating down on you but can still enjoy it. Some good inclines and it's great for dogs. The water falls have a beautiful eeriness to them and are excellent for breaks and photo ops.

Some parts are a steep incline but nothing unmanageable. Great place to hike with your dog.

Not easy to follow with so many trails on Cougar Mtn, but it's a great compilation of trails to make close to a 7 mile hike.

This was a really nice hike, wasn't wet after all the rain we've had, though there is a few small mud holes along the way - but not unbearable.
We went clockwise but FYI, the 0.5 of Quarry Trail is the steepest going up (almost 400 ft elevation gain) before the falls and another steep section on Cave Hole Trail; made this hike moderate but otherwise easy.
Overall, the first 5 miles was a quiet hike - no one around except a few runners passing by; the last couple miles, basically, saw more people hiking to the falls and surrounding area.

1/13/2017 (Friday) -- This loop passes all of the three small seasonal "named" falls on the Cougar Mountain, and two "named" lookouts. Its length and difficulty are easy to moderate for most hikers, but it lightly used in most times. One can take the loop either clockwise or counter-clockwise, to get different feelings.
