Downey Creek Trail is fairly easy. Really cool bridges, lots of open forest and the ground is covered in moss. The trail is well maintained and is not very difficult. The secret to this trail is that is ends and the beginning of Bachelor Meadows Trail. Bachelor Meadows has not been maintained in over 30 years according the the Darrington Forestry Department. It seems that Hikers have done some work on the trail and thanks to someone who marked the trail with orange tape we were able to find Bachelor Meadows and a whole lot more. Lots of brush on the lower portions of the trail. At times it seemed we were hiking through a jungle. Didn't see any Bear or Cougars. Read that a hiker got turned around at 4,000 feet by a black bear.
