Gorgeous hike past Damfino Lakes. Fall colors are just coming out. We ate lunch at the peak with a gorgeous view of Baker. It is bear hunting season now so you will meet some hunters hiking out. The road up is in okay shape with some large potholes. It’s a long road-15 miles or so.

It was a bit cloudy, so the views weren't the best that day. The road was in great shape getting to the trailhead. So much better than the one to Skyline Divide. I must do this one again!

The trail was clear all the way, well marked and just beautiful, we will be back in fall to add on to this hike

This was a beautiful hike, with the drive to the trailhead. From thick woods to wildflower mountainsides, through small streams and over some fallen trees that obstruct the trail(but I'm sure will be removed soon), the last part of the trail reveals a miniature world of trees, shrubs and mosses. Will do this again!

Road is open all the way to the trail head. Barely any snow left on the trail. Will be back for the fall color

The road is currently closed at the 5.5 mile mark which means you'd have to hike an extra 10 mikes of road each way to even reach the trail head...

Like many of the other WA trails north of Mt Baker, the views are excellent. Unobstructed 360° views of the major peaks. Trail was snow free to the lakes and then kicked in about 1 to 3 feet deep in places. Since I had never hiked this trail before and everything above the treeline was covered in snow I just hiked along the ridge line from the meadows to Excelsior Peak. Great all around winter hike and I'm sure the area is just as gorgeous during the other seasons. The road to the TH was snow free except for the last 1/2 mile.
