Cranberry Lake is a 2.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Camano Island, Washington that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from June until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Discover Pass is required for vehicular entrance to this park. An Annual Pass costs $30 and a Day Pass is $10. Begin at Cama Beach State Park. The trail to Cranberry Lake is gentle and well- groomed. At the West end of the lake a weaker trail continues along the North edge allowing a bit more travel. Visitors can then head South on the Cross Island Trail to the edge of Camano State Park.
It was a nice rainy day hike. I was lucky it was only drizzling for the most part of the hike. Very few people and dog encounter. Though one of the two dogs I saw was off leash and when i first saw it moving under a tree I thought it was some kind of wildlife. please keep dogs on leash!
lovely trail. nicely wooded spaces. the lake is wonderful, but that's really it. it's mostly just a nice walk in the woods.
An easy walk, lovely on the hot day we were there, lots of shade. I was a little disappointed with the “lake” at the end, mostly because we had brought lunch and imagined finding a spot to sit and eat and enjoy the view, but there really is nowhere to sit down, the trail just ends at the water edge. However, we spotted a Great Blue Heron, a Belted Kingfisher, and many Cedar Waxwings, so that was cool. On the way back out we saw three Pileated Woodpeckers, very cool.
A wooded very easy walk. Very few bugs when we went which was nice. The marsh itself is quite pretty and I got some nice photos of the pond Lilly’s that are just beginning to bloom, a bull frog and dragon flies. The walk from the parking lot at Cama beach to Cranberry (Lake), really a large marsh is only about 2.3 miles and that included a walk down to the beach and back after we finished going to Cranberry Lake. I’m not sure where the 4.5 miles stated is coming unless they include the walk to Ivy trail and then the cross trail to the Camano State Park.
