Good Trail, really muddy in some spots, but that’s to be expected for this time of year ;) Dogs had a great time! Easy trail for after work or Sunday hike like today! :)

Long Trail, very steep on some parts of the trail especially if you go off trail like we did. Definitely take water and picture of the map if this is your first time there.
Not very good trail for toddlers so be prepared to carry up & down hill.
Awesome place to walk your dogs.
Will be returning but when my kids are a little old to cover the whole trail.

Very pretty hike, lots of interesting rock formations. We stayed on the main out and back trail which is gravel and mostly flat.

Hiked Saturday morning. Not to busy. Always a fun and easy hike to get ready for the big ones later in summer. Went up to the winery and ate some lunch and hiked back down. Easy for all ages!

More of a walk than a hike but great views nonetheless. Short side loops offer addition exploration possibilities. If you're into geology this is a must do, several interesting rock formations throughout..

A decent hike that all skill levels can accomplish. Not much for exploring off trail or for wildlife but comes with great views.

I have hiked this trail many times and it's beautiful with about 7 Bridges intertwining between the two canyons. However, today on May 25th my roommate and I pulled up to three broken car windows that have been bashed in while people were on their hike. Be aware and beware!

Beautiful. Glorious vistas and panorama.

Love this hike, mostly easy with some challenging hills! We hike up to wilridge winery and enjoy a picnic and hike back! Our favorite way to spend a Saturday! Make sure to wear sunscreen and keep your eyes open for snakes.

There isn't a lot to explore... But it makes for great exercise with great views. Ive been on the Cowiche trails about a dozen times, and I'm still not bored with it.

This trail system is about 5 miles from my house, and we've been there several times. It can be easily done on a hybrid bike, and is a blast on a mountain bike. The trails up to the rim are great for exploring and the area is a lovely little bit of nature close to Yakima.

If you live nearby or are visiting Yakima and want a short hike, this is a great option. If you're travelling, there are more worth-while trails a little to the west up White or Chinook Pass.

Hiking is just has fun. I listed the activity as mountain biking just because there aren't very many of those on this site.

Cowiche Canyon offers a lot of hiking bang for the buck. Because of its unique geological features each side of the canyon walls are different from the other.

One side of the canyon is basalt cliffs left from the Missoula Flood some 15,000 years ago while the other walls were upheaval if the earth. Regardless if which direction you hike on this 6-mile there and back trip, the scenery is different making it almost as if you'd gone elsewhere.

The trails are well groomed with few exceptions. Water from the stream is available to those with purifiers. Nearly a dozen bridges are available for stream crossing.

Since we went on a weekend, there were a lot of folks in this well used trail. However, it never truly was overcrowded.

Hiked Cowiche for the first time last weekend. Left cloudy Seattle for Yakima sunshine. Perfect time of the year! Not too hot and the Canyon when I was there was full of Spring blooms. The flat gravel/rock trail that runs the length of the Canyon is beautiful and good for all levels of hikers, runners, walkers. If you want to add some challenge, take trails up the sides of the Canyon, Uplands Trail or the Vineyard Trail (Wine tastings during open hours $5). They're fairly steep and a good extra workout. Both leave the main trail very close to bridge #8. There are at least 3 trail heads. Uplands is very steep and not a good choice for families with small children. If you want to avoid the steep trail in and out, start from the trailhead off Weikel Road or Cowiche Canyon Road. The trailhead at Cowiche Canyon also has an outhouse available and friendlier neighbors.

Took a fun day trip with my girl friends. We started at the Uplands trail and hiked down to the canyon. The Uplands trail lacks shade so bring lots of water, and sunscreen. Beautiful views of the hills and desert land surrounding Yakima. Don't for get to check out the Wilridge Winery while you're there.
