Starting in Cle Elum at 2nd and Stafford streets, the trail gradually ascends to the town of Roslyn. The trail is shaded by tall deciduous trees and it feels like you are in a peaceful forest, even though you are still in town. The trail enters Roslyn, crosses highway 903, goes up Washington Ave. and beside Pioneer Park. It then travels parallel to Horvatt Road and again crosses highway 903 (watch for cars -- the traffic is fast at this point). Continuing through an evergreen forest, the trail ends in Ronald, just off the highway beside Ronald General Store. Be sure to check out the historical sites -- there are many along the trail.

easy hike, more of a walk

This trail is fairly nice but not at all a hike. It's a fun walk for beginners and going off the main trail onto the bike trails makes it a little more challenging. There are quite a few homes along the trail for the first 1.5 miles which is a bit unfortunate if you want a more secluded hike. About 2 miles in I ran into a bear in the middle of the trail and had to turn back, quite a few bear droppings on and around the trail so I'd say he probably wasn't alone.

Great local access trail. Well maintained with wonderful sights and smells of the PNW. Trail runs along an old railway that accessed the historical coal mines that were the backbone of these communities. Only complaint is I wish they had more information along the trail of the history of the mines. I took a detour and explored a tailings pile the locals ride dirt bikes on, and a mountain bike trail. I strongly suggest exploring one of the many connecting trails.

Nice easy trail good for all levels. Lots of shady spots and places to take breaks.. A gradual uphill from Cle Elum to Roslyn but a fast ride back.

There are no historic sites on this trail. It is really boring

Perfect for a walk just off I-90 when you need a break during a long drive.

We weren't able to go far on this trail because the snow on it had frozen to ice so it was not easy to walk on. I definately want to try it again without the snow and ice.

Nice little walk. Nothing special. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a hike. Back to town for some tacos!

Easy trail....brought back memories of my recent trip of walking the Camino de Santiago. We walked from Cle Elum to Roslyn.

I love this trail! Scenic (lots of trees ☺️) and easy for hiking or cycling in any season. If you start in Cle Elum, you can have a snack or lunch when you arrive in Roslyn. In winter, the snow can be deep, so cross country skis or snowshoes are best. Note: snowmobiles do use this trail.

More an easy walking trail than a hike. Pretty with the leaves changing but tons of poop everywhere! I think it was horse poop, watch your step!

This pin is misplaced. The trail is more like a greenway.

If you are looking for an in-town hike this is perfect. It's easy to find and fun for all ages! The trail does back up to houses on both sides.. But bushes and trees try and make in secluded. Such a beautiful town! Very pretty:)

This pin is misplaced. Park at 1st and Statford and cross the street to enter the trail at the trailhead. Nice walking trail. No views aside from the back of people's houses. I should say we only walked 2 miles in before turning around.

This is a versatile trail for hiking, biking, trail running, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. It starts in Cle Elum and ends in Ronald, with a gradual uphill gradient the entire time. The surface is mostly packed gravel, with occasional sections in larger, loose gravel. The trail is wide enough to accommodate people traveling at different speeds. Overall, the trail is a peaceful escape to a quiet forest -- without leaving town. Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ronald are all interesting towns with a lot of history; definitely worth seeing.
