So glad to have discovered this hike & rediscover Cougar Mtn! What a great gem when you don’t want to go too far bit still want to get out into nature. With the app it was easy to follow the different trails. Parking lot v crowded - the trails were not. 10/10 highly recommend/ will be back!
Awesome urban trail and waterfall if you take the Coal Creek Falls split
Trail is great! Parking lot full when I arrived at 10:30am and had to wait for someone to leave.
Cougar Mountain is one of the things that makes the Seattle area so special. Lots of beautiful hiking trails, miles of forest, and there is a literal suburb of Bellevue around the corner. This particular path worked great for us. Seems closer to 4.3 miles, by our count. Not as beautiful as what you'll get a bit further west, but for people looking for an easy, family friendly day hike, this is a great choice.
We went on a Saturday and were able to find parking at around 10:30 am - the first batch of early bird hikers were leaving as we were arriving, opening up some spots. Overall the hike was well marked and maintained, and had a decent amount of shade. It felt steep at times, but it's a loop so the second half was mostly downhill. We saw very few people on the hike. There were no big overlooks, but there were plenty of interesting plants.
Creaks dried out. Lots of rocks and tree roots. Lots of people parking lot full by 9am.
