This trail was super muddy, but fun. Very doable with dogs and kids.

Hiked on Saturday evening - at least half of the trail is thick slippery mud. We were fine in tall hiking boots but saw a couple in sneakers give up and head back. Passed only a few sets of people, most wore masks except the huge group. Low elevation gain but lots of going up and back down - definitely felt it in our quads and booty. worth the view of the lighthouse at the end!

Extremely muddy and slick. There was also a tree down about 3/4 of the way going from North Head Trail to the light house. It was easy to navigate around but at first we weren’t sure if it would be passable. We did see dozens of newts and some slugs. All in all, our kids really enjoyed it and I loved seeing the lighthouse and view at the end.

Great views of both the lighthouses! Cool and creepy old military battery to explore at McKenzie head with a beautiful view of the ocean and jetty too. Took a short detour to see a small man made waterfall. Have to pay for parking if you start at the lighthouse.

pretty hike through the trees, no views until until the end. nice to do on a hot day when you want to hike but don't want to be in direct sun.

Great divers hike. Rainforest feel and great views on a clear day. Take a picnic lunch or breakfast as there are many places to sit and enjoy the view

Not very exciting. The view are ok but the best part, the lighthouse and the dead mans cave wasn’t accessible. Just hung out at Waikiki beach after. Felt like day pass was wasted money.

Nice trail. It was very wet and very muddy so be careful! There are several wood bridges and wood steps that get very slippery when wet. We hiked on a Tuesday afternoon and saw very few people on the trail. Lots of cool mushrooms to admire as well on the trail. We did see a few slugs and my husband claims to have seen a few snakes, but nothing poisonous. Also, be aware the do some momentary tests of tsunami alarms I’m sure it was a one off, but it gave us quite a scare with the siren initially went off.

Beautiful coastal forest with lots a huge Sitka Spruce trees. We saw lots of snakes (small and cute, no worries) and frogs. We also saw two bald eagles sharing a tree. Great views of Long Beach below and it actually wasn’t very muddy. We visited in late October and it hadn’t rained for several days. I can see that it would get pretty muddy if it had recently been wet though.

Unique mushrooms this time of year. Fuzzy catepillars and spotted banana slugs. Prefer to start at the lighthouse where there is more parking. Muddy areas, wear good shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

Beautiful! Lots of newts running around! The trail doesn’t lead to the lighthouse at the moment, but has a beautiful view point!

Glad I brought my walking stick for all the cool tree root stairs! Perfect 65* weather with sunshine and just the right amount of breeze. Nice views on the way up and awesome view at the top! Saw lots of garter snakes too!

Great moderate hike! Well marked trail goes right up to the lighthouse. Great views of the beach from the top. When we went the path was dry but I can see it being difficult to navigate while muddy. Watch your step climbing over the tree roots!

Sunny, cool, and slightly windy, a perfect day for the short hike to North Head Lighthouse. Mud has dried up, and bugs were not a bother. Saw about a dozen Garter snakes, which frightened at least one in our group. Pretty trail. Not heavily trafficked.

So we accidentally went the wrong way on the Lewis and Clark trail, across the street walked about a mile up and saw the old world war 2 bunkers, it was pretty neat. There was old creepy doors and long dark hallways. We ended up asking some hikers where this hike was so they told us we went the wrong way. We found the trail head and there was soooo many dang snakes it was SICK!! Some were actually big, so I screamed quite a few times lol. Super muddy but when you get to the lighthouse the views of the ocean are literally incredible. Absolutely stunning and gorgeous! Beautiful waves. Wasn’t a hard hike at all, only a couple inclining spots but it was absolutely gorgeous. Lighthouse was pretty cool as well.

Despite being very muddy in some areas and full of mosquito towards the end, this was an excellent quick hike. The McKenzie Head trail, which is right across the street from the trails end, was a good bonus.

We loved this trail! However it was extremely muddy the day we went, making it sort of difficult to hike — we were sliding everywhere. Lots of nature, birds, slugs, etc Lots of bugs... we didn’t have bug spray but we survived.

Awesome hike, not too easy not too challenging! The lighthouse is of course, a fun endpoint. Some parts were bordering on overgrown but nothing unmanageable. DEFINITELY need bug spray. Would do again!
