So, I only did 5 miles in/out but those 5 miles were great. Very challenging but rewarding. Highly recommend shoes with good tred on them as most of the path is loose and narrow. It felt like most of the trail was uphill and then just enough downhill/neutral to catch your breathe and back uphill. Saw guys with 2 alpacas going out but no one else. Prepare for 45 mins of gravel road travel to the trailhead. AMAZING views going up with potential cattle sightings (saw a family of 6 running downhill with me). There is no sign posted saying you need any passes but a permit is required, which a form is at the trailhead that I think you just place in your dash? Honestly, i was unsure so I ignored it and just displayed my Discover and America is beautiful pass. So issues. I plan to come back to this to complete the full 12 miles.
