It was an easy hike to the waterfall, we backpacked our 2 year old son. The cave was awesome (you definitely need a good flashlight, your phone light doesn’t work very well). The waterfall was too crowded for my personal liking, but was pretty. You do have to trek through some water, and over rocks, but nothing too bad, there’s rocks in the water to step on so you don’t get your shoes wet. Overall, it was a fun short hike, we will probably go again, and take our 7 year old with this time. ( Forgot to review last summer )

Super easy hike. Pet friendly. Not too hard on the knees. Cave was small and not too scary. Didn't see any bats. Views to cave are amazing! Signs with history and a great plus!

This was an AWESOME experience!
Hike isn't too bad my 3 year old twins love it. Make sure you wear comfortable sturdy shoes that you don't mine getting wet, if you want to see the water fall.

Great hike with a few steep parts, such as the climb out of the caves. The Kiddos will get a kick out of the caves

I hike this every year atleast twice. It's a great, short trail for people with kids or people that aren't avid hikers and need to start slowly to get in hiking shape. :) I'd definitely recommend going mid week in the a.m. to beat the crowds and the heat. There is a nice day use picnic area and a place for you to dip your toes in the river after the hike if you desire. If you do bring your kiddos, PLEASE read the interpretive signs along the way that caution about cleaning your shoes upon entering and leaving the cave, not shouting in the cave or pointing your flashlight up, and staying on trail. This area has been shut down before because people didn't observe these basic rules and trail etiquette.

My kids loved this hike and the cave was great. They really liked the waterfall and the pool it created.

Boulder Caves requires a Northwest Forest Pass or there is $5 use fee and box to pay. There is plenty of paved parking and picnic tables in the shade by the parking lot. Two sets of pit toilets. The trail to the cave was a decent dirt path. Lots of families and small children out hiking it. Bring a flashlight, headlamp, and at least your phones flashlight for the cave. It is very dark in there and it's one way in and one way out. Our trip was an easy 1.5 miles roundtrip. Even at the beginning of September, it was pretty warm on the trail and in the cave.

Very fun and easy trail for families with little ones. We hiked back in the water (not deep) and the kids had a blast.

Easy hike. Beautiful scenery. Dark cave, so bring a flashlight. There is even a secret "water slide" which is really fun. Can be a family hike for those who like to hike with kids. Nice and shaded hike.

I had a lot of fun on this trail. We ended up walking through the creek on the way back out. I would definitely do it again.

Walking through a pitch black cave is definitely an interesting experience. It allows you to get in tune with your other senses. Easy hike. Crowded during the summer weekends but well worth it.

Do not listen to the signs that say stay on trail... Except for the bat one in cave. One has to explore here or the waterfall, bench in water, and natural rock slide will be missed. The rock slide is a local spot so I cannot share that here, but if you find it on you're own I'm not at fault ;)
You must bring a flashlight, even in mid day the cave is pitch black n water runs thru it so you dnt want you're kids falling in. Do not just stop at the short main trail, try the trail that takes you to the camping sights... It's beautiful n there's cliff jumping n fly fishing. There's also my secret spot... A bench sits in the middle of shallow rocky water, we like to take a case of beer out there, sit n enjoy the view. Depending what time of year it is you'll have to swim out to get there. Hope you enjoy this hike! (camping spots are great)

This was a fun and easy trail for our boys, ages 5 and 7. The cave was an interesting adventure. Short hike = lots of people. Sad to see so many ignoring signs to stay on trail, keep quiet for bats, and a general lack of respect for what has been shared on this trail.

Expect to pay $5 for parking- discover pass not valid.
