Walk around an island in beautiful Waterfront Park in Leavenworth. Enjoy the sounds of birds calling, fish jumping, and plenty of informative signs telling the history of the area. You dont have to go very far from the hubbub of activity in downtown Leavenworth to find the delightful promenade for a leisurely stroll or paths on which to take a bicycle ride. You can laze the day away in serene pockets of picnicking pleasure, which are located in a totally natural environment. If a long and quiet walk is on your mind for the day, you can cross Blackbird Island Bridge to Blackbird Island to find a quiet park bench. If you are lucky, you may see deer, bear, cougar, beaver, birds of all kinds, and fish jumping in the river.
Cute little park with a decent loop to run. Snow conditions right now make it like running in sand, so I enjoyed the workout. Pretty views down the Wenatchee. Just a community park though, nothing to write home about.
This is a very peaceful walk. It's easy with plenty of places to rest. I would recommend this for anyone. It's even dog friendly.
Very relaxing walk on this trail with nice views of the river.
Very nice easy trail, well maintained. Various trail options through forest and along river/canal with a few bridges. Variety of birds and other wildlife. There were signs to beware of bear and bobcat, but none observed.
Nice gentle walk along the river with great views. We used this path to walk from our hotel to downtown Leavenworth during Maifest.
Very easy stroll through the town area onto the island. Breathtaking views and well manicured paths. Great birdwatching. Fantastic for a quick morning run!
Leisurely stroll along the river into town
Super easy nice little walk through next to the river. Watch out for snakes!
A nice stroll through a city park.
I expected more from this trail. We visited in March, 2015 and although there was a few pleasant sights along the path, it seemed a bit gray and dull. The trees were bare and nothing was blooming yet. The trail was flat and not very long. The bridges were pretty cool. I have no doubt if will be more lively in the later spring and summer, fall.
Blackbird Island has River Trail, Channel Trail & Hot Sands Trail which are part of the City of Leavenworth's Enchantment Park walking trails system. The trails wind along the Icicle River and through riverbank forests & wetlands. There are benches for sitting and interpretive signs to explain the natural and cultural history of the area. Throughout the park there are small beach inlets that are perfect for swimming on hot summer days. This is also a great birding site in the Spring or a place to spot salmon making their way upstream in the Fall. The trails are open during the Winter for walking, snow shoeing & cross country skiing. Leashed dogs are welcome and dog waste bags are provided at the trailhead. The single trailhead (for all trails) is located in Enchantment Park and will take you along the river, over Blackbird Island, and out into downtown Leavenworth - or you can walk one of them as an approximate 1 mile loop. There are public restrooms in Enchantment Park open from mid-April through mid-October. The trails are flat & very well maintained - great for all fitness levels.
