Started off early and on the east side of the loop to avoid mountain bike traffic. Only crossed paths with 1 bike the whole way which was really nice. I suggest going early if your hiking to avoid the bikes and make it more enjoyable for yourself and others.

Mountain bikingGreat!

This isn’t really a great place for hiking or running. This area is heavily used and maintained by mountain bikers. If you Mtb, it’s incredible and there is something for every skill level.

Nice walk. Parts were steep depending on which bike trail you choose. Some great vistas on top. Watch for bikes!

I probably will not do this hike again. Trails were poorly marked halfway through and near the end. My fitness watch also says I hiked nearly nine miles, not 7.7, so All Trails may have the distance incorrect. I'm glad I went at 730am rather than midday or afternoon because I probably would have passed out on the trail. I did get to cross paths with a young snake about half a mile from the parking lot on the way back down! that was neat. it wasn't a viper so most likely a garter snake or something.

Fantastic area to hike, but the area is tailored to bikers. Be alert if you wish to attempt this hike. In particular, the map is difficult to follow and I had trouble staying on the trail because of how big the network of trails are. However, getting around these few issues will reward you with varying views, including a close shot of the city and a regrowing forest. The private property tag on this is to mean that you must stay on the path if possible at all times. Because of the regrowth, it has been asserted that hikers and bikers alike remain on the trail so that the recreation area may be restored.

Hot, dry patches of trail, theres more shade once you get closer to Camp Sekani. It was difficult to navigate due to so many single track trails. A couple mountain bikers here and there but I went around 730am and it was pretty clear. I saw a moose though about a half mile from Minnehaha park. Be aware of your surroundings when using these trail systems (mountain bikers have been nothing but courteous and friendly to me when I've been up there, but theres quite a few blind spots, be aware, some are going pretty fast!!!)
