Okay hike. Kinda steep, seemed like it was longer than it was. Not a lot of room to explore at the top, but pretty Mountain View’s. I wouldn’t do this hike again.

have been going to this trail for the past 5 days. is very beautiful, not beautiful enough to go 5 days in a row though. only reason why I am is because I've been looking for my lost iPhone. (red and white).
It was lost Thursday 23rd then found on the 25th by someone and they left a note saying it was dropped off at the Verlot public service center. Finally saw the note Monday after hiking the trail a 4th time and they were close by the time I got there. I went back Tuesday and the note was gone, someone had ripped it off the information wall. I went back today since the public center is only open Thursdays - Mondays 8-4 and they said they didn't have it. they only had 4 different android phones, no iPhones.
If the person who found it reads this review please reply with any information, thanks for turning it in.
the phone means a lot to me because it has pictures and tracks of trails that I've been working on and share with others and lots of pictures of my dog.
As for this trail, its not difficult, just a great leg workout to the top. about a mile long, if that. if you want to get adventurous like I did you can walk straight up by the rocks and you'll skip some of the trail. just make sure your pockets are empty. ;)

Great hike! Quick little day trip. So peaceful and quiet. 45 minutes up 25 minutes down got home in time for lunch! Totally alone on the trail as well. No snow no smoke good times :)

Nice hike. steep but not too long, and for such a short hike, beautiful view. the best part is we had the whole point to ourselves. the parking at the trail head was completely full but we only saw one other person on the trail with her dog.

we did the hike today with 4 girls, 1,5,8 and 9, it was harder than expected, definitely a workout. its about 1.2 miles up hill. The 3 oldest started to complain a little before we reached the top. plenty of parking and not many people on the trail. view was beautiful!!!

Short hike with a fabulous view for the minimal work involved. Did it May 19, accessible and no snow anywhere. Didn’t see a single soul.

was great for a first time hiker, beautiful and not to elevated.

Short and sweet. Great view at the top thought the view is somewhat clouded by trees. Snow at the top but made it easily with hiking shoes, didn’t even need spikes

Quick hike, view of mountains was pretty but during summer months might not be as great. Someone had recently been out there so it was easy to spot in the snow the correct way to go once we got to the top

Hiked Barlow Point today. I was worried my car would get broken into (there was a sign at the trailhead saying this was a high crime area.) but luckily, it was fine. There were about 15 cars parked at the trailhead, but most of them must have headed south, away from Barlow Point.
Lots of rocks on the trail, though not as bad as Lake 22. The trail was a steady uphill moderate grade throughout. Another beautiful warm NW summer day in September!

When we arrived to this trailhead there was a car full of women cleaning glass out of their car. 9 cars were broken into while people were hiking. The area has gotten bad. Make sure you remove everything out of your vehicle before hiking. This trail will get your heart rate up, that's for sure. Incline all the way up. Rocky and rooty most of the trail. ALL switchbacks to the top. Dog friendly but littler kids probably not a ideal hike. Short, but feels longer. The view at the top was well worth the effort.

Awesome, not too challenging. View at the top was beautiful. Despite the road being crowded, everyone else seemed to be going to other trails. This one was nice and quiet, we didn't see anyone else.

There's an annoying area down at the bottom where the vegetation has really grown over the trail. It looks like you can take the railroad grade to avoid it, there's two points early on where it connects to the main trail.

Otherwise, loved it. Top is perfect for a snack and a long rest.

Great hike if you love tree cover and switchbacks. Great view at the top though!

The trail starts narrow but soon improves. Just after the narrow section in the beginning, we wondered whether to go straight onto a more cleared trail ahead or switchback to another trail. Turning onto switchback is the correct trail up. While this trail isn't difficult, it does require attentiveness with the roots and rocks and steep sections. At the top there is a nice rock foundation, where the former tower sat, to have a snack. There are two view spots to walk out to from the rocks. One, you will see a glimpse of Big Four if it is a clear day. The other...the valley. Our favorite part of the entire hike was that EVERYONE else was hiking Monte Cristo area and we were all alone even on a summer Saturday.

Trail was beautiful but very narrow and Rocky. 2 stars for it not being kid friendly. We had to turn around with our 3 littles so they didn't fall down into the canyon. We'll return for an adults only hike later.

Don't let the 3 stars fool you, this is a great little hike, easily accessible from Seattle. The 1.2 mile hike to the top passes quickly, about 40 minutes, without rushing (hence the 3 stars). The views back across the valley to the southwest and the northeast are worth the walk. There is a nice foundation, formerly belonging to a USFS fire watch, to stop and have a picnic. A great beginner hike for the NW, half covered with switch backs, leading 800ft to the top. Even on a rainy day the dense forest canopy provides excellent cover, beware of adverse weather potential at the top.

This was a great little hike.. A nice one to pair with the big four ice caves to make the trip more bang for the buck!

Well maintained trail and not too muddy. A phenomenal look out point, especially for such a short hike. Great for a picnic.
