Note: Offline map is recommended. Users have reported that the trails are not marked well. At the end of Smith-Cripe Road, hike up the road to the first fork and go right. Then take the obvious trail to the right (less than 1/4 mile from the car). The trail zigs down to cross stream on a log bridge, continues up, then on to a series of steep switchbacks and a few meadow bluff views. At the junction, the left trail goes to Scott Point with views up the valley to Archer Falls. The right trail continues to the top of Archer Mountain. At a fork where it levels out, left goes to the summit through big trees, Right goes to Arrow Point, a ridge end viewpoint over the Columbia Gorge. The last stretch is exposed. There's a connecting path up the steep ridge, making a loop.

Primitive trail with plenty of rocky, steep & slick sections. A doable trail, may just take a little longer than expected. Arrow Point offers a beautiful vista of the Columbia Gorge.

Fine trail, a little brushy. STEEP wouldn’t attempt in rain or nighttime

Steep and rocky for much of it. Very overgrown but super worth the view at the top. Make sure you download the map. We went the wrong way from the get-go. Cute stream with a bridge at one point. Had to make a rock stack.

Beautiful and mostly quiet if you come first thing in the morning. Lots of gorgeous view points and a good booty burner.

Make sure you download the offline map before going. Trail is nearly washed out .15 miles from the top and should be approached with caution.

Beautiful views but the trail is fairly washed out in a lot of places making it slightly dangerous. Would recommend poles.

It was moderately hard, the rating is accurate, to head off those that really don’t want a challenge. Very scenic Some run off trails (pretty cool)

Great hike. I did find something on the trail that probably belongs to a hiker that was on the trail last weekend 6/27. Let me know what you lost and I am happy to return it to its rightful owner!

not for the faint of heart or the weak of knees! definitely on the more difficult side of the “moderate” spectrum. steep inclines, mud, rocks, precarious edges, and loads of ferns and blackberries nibbling at your knees. pants, long sleeve, and a walking stick will all do you good on this hike. the upper part of the loop is an “off-trail” portion—be prepared to plow your way through. a solid day hike for the avid adventurer!
