Great hill climb from the resort. Absolutely the most well maintained trail ever. Shady and lots of wooden bridges and elevated wood plank walks. We hiked up the east side by crossing the foot bridge and came back the west loop trail. Dog friendly. Crossing the road there is a weird house with a lookout tower (picture).

HikingGreat!

Well maintained, decent elevation, kid friendly, and cool detailed stairs/walkways. Not a ton of things to look at but nonetheless beautiful greenery. Hardly trafficked and clean.

Great family trail. We took two kids (7 & 4) and my 1 year old daughter on the trail and had a blast. The kids got exhausted about 3/4 of the way done (roughly 2 miles). The elevation wasn’t to difficult for them either. We broke off and went down the bay so did about 3 miles round trip. Poison oak for a small section of the trail but it was clearly marked. The views weren’t incredible but the bay was worth it.

Trail is in excellent shape. Only crossed paths with 1 other person on a Tuesday afternoon. Take a photo of the map at the parking area to orient yourself at the many trail junctions. Great run/walk!

Beautiful trail. We hiked this last week and enjoyed lunch on the picnic tables by the golf course overlooking the canal and olympics.

wonderful hike. well maintained and perfect length for 2 adults and a 10 year old. our 2 year old did about half the walk and then was carried on shoulder the way back, which we expected. Probably not great for small kids as there the trail is quite narrow with a steep drop on one side the entire way.

As another reviewer noted, there is a sign stating Alderbrook guests only, though we weren't bothered about it. The trails were amazing, though the Peekaboo Point was disappointing; There was absolutely no view like the map at the trail fork said (see my picture). But the plant life, walkways, and bridges were stunning.

This is a stunning and well maintained trail. It has a few different trails that connect at different points throughout the route which can make for an entire day of exploring if you take your time like we did. Starting at 12:30, Husband and I took the huckleberry hill climb, (don’t let the name scare you! You are climbing, but it is gradual and so beautiful that the elevation gain is minimal in comparison.) From huckleberry hill, we continued on to the golf course where you get to take in sweeping views of the hood canal and the Olympic mountain range. The Alderbrook golf course has a clubhouse there which serves food and drinks and is open to the public. We celebrated my 39th birthday at a small table in the corner with views that were remarkable as the cloud cover thinned and allowed peeks of the snow kissed mountains. Bloody Mary’s and Clam chowder are both highly recommended. After lunch we flew down huckleberry hill to the intersection where we continued on to licorice fern, traversing through beautiful moss covered old growth and nurturing nursery stumps galore. We saw many different kinds of fungi and enjoyed the peaceful tranquility from the hemlock balcony look out spot. Entire distance once we returned to the parking lot was 3.5 miles and we took almost every side trail but still have a few to explore next time. Finished at 4:30. Afterwards we enjoyed a complimentary cold water and visit with the resort kitty cat. The resort is beautiful this time of year so we enjoyed some of the Christmas decorations before heading home. Perfect day and beautiful trail.

Well maintained trail. We took the Huckleberry Hillclimb and then connected to the Licorice Fern trail for about a 3 mile loop in total. Switchbacks and elevation gains a ideal for older kids on this route.
