Nice hike - large part is in the woods (half shade/sun) with a gradual incline at the start. Not too steep but also not without effort. Towards the end you’ll get the nice mountain and waterfall views. There are a few small creeks you’ll have to walk/jump over, but our sheltie dog managed fine. We had a tiny bit of snow left in May but was no issue (our dog loved it). Bugs weren’t too bad, do check for ticks as we spotted two on ourselves. To get there: the trail sign/start is a bit hidden on left side of road (coming from Stehekin) so drive slowly to spot it! We parked on the side of the road close to it, there is no designated parking. Recording note: my recording is only from the way back as it didn’t record from the start.

Great out and back hike. More like 400ft elevation gain and 6 miles when parked at High Bridge. Quite a flat trail and easy hike. Be sure to check out where the old suspension bridge was at the top of the end of the trail then follow it on down to the riverside with super clear blue rushing water. Views of Agnes Mountain part way out and the waterfall and creek views at the end are gorgeous. Not much to see on the majority of the trail in though (like no wildflowers) but the end is worth the hike.

This is a great, mostly level trail. The elevation says 856 but you hardly notice it. The trail walks you around a fat curve on the mountain with immediate lovely vistas of surrounding ridges. Soon you start getting peeks of perfectly pointy Agnes mountain in the distance while Agnes Creek rages below (at least in late May). Finally, you are left well above Agnes creek where you can see the remnants of where a suspension bridge to the opposite side was, as well as one of the most stunning waterfalls I have ever seen. Water drops dozens of feet before pounding and reflecting off resilient, flat stone all the way down. Backtrack 100 feet or so and continue on to get all the way down to the water which was absolutely torrential, careening off harsh flat rock walls. Bugs and heat were not a problem but both were probably due to the (unfortunately) overcast skies. Our host said both would have been worse on a sunny day.

This was one of my favorite hikes of all time. It was not too difficult for the heat that can rise in the Stehekin Valley. There is enough alternating shade and sun to keep you cool. There were numerous vistas to enjoy and it all ended with a fantastic view of the waters through the Gorge.
