This was a pleasant hike. Not particularly strenuous technically, but I’d probably have rated it a “moderate” on account of length alone. Pretty views of the creek going up the east side; the scenery going down the west side was pretty nondescript. Shaded throughout, so nice for a hot day.

This was a great trail! Pretty well marked (Teal blue) throughout. The exception is between 2.15 and 3.0 miles. You definitely need to pay attention to the map at cruising points because you can get turned around. Now about that turnaround point OMG what a scramble. Be prepared for a short scramble and rock climbing. That part of the trail is narrow so be careful on the decent. Foot placement can be crucial. The waterfall and open waterways was a nice reward after the scramble. You can take a break right there before you head back. I’ll be doing this one again.

Nice trail! Made a loop up the strenuous into moderate. Was pretty muddy the closer you get to that loop.

Fun trail. Fairly easy to follow...we also had a very detailed blog post. We clocked 3.5 mile one way though so not sure if we got lost somewhere. The one way from boundary to pierce mill was about 1hr 45min.

Great little trail — trail switches back between paved surface and dirt a few times — was a little hard to follow paired with road crossings & less than ideal markings. However, it’s a great series of trails right in DC with good views of the park and creek!

This is a great hike right in the downtown DC area. You can combine it with the eastern side to make it a nice loop vice an out and back. Interesting bits of history at signs and markers along the way.

Not well marked at all, with lots of smaller branching trails. Overall, a good trail but poorly marked.

Had a good hike, but was frustrated by the poorly marked trail system. Hiked north from the nature center on the western ridge trail, then returned on the valley trail. Many forks in trail with no indication ofwhich trail is which. Blazes and trail markers seemed sparse.

Great scenic view. Water and open woods. Paths are pretty wide. Folks were really friendly.

A shady walk through the woods, often along the creek. It crosses some roads, which can have traffic congestion during rush hours.
