Nice trail, some parts are full sun. There was one part that we were unable to cross even in waterproof boots so we had to forge it. brrr!

Pretty dry and brown out there today. a few ferns, some moss and a little patch of skunk cabbage. Where the two loops meet, we decided to cut the trail short and do just the first loop. It was nice to have the option. However, the river crossing was impossible and we had to walk further up the stream off-trail until we found a downed pole to walk across. Still, a nice quiet place to hike. It will be nice to return when there are more signs of life in the spring.

It was average. The stream and pond was ok. Views limited. Perhaps it's better when the forest has leaves.

Great morning hike. Ground was frozen, so no problems with mud.

This trail is lacking good markers. It also has no bridge access in a few spots and you have to back track or go through the river like I had to. Really muddy after a rain too. Beautiful scenery and part of the trail is on a dirt road under power lines.

Just a heads up! Stopped by today and there was a sign saying that the trails are closed for the hunting season. Better safe than sorry.

Forest full of wildlife, streams, historic structures, even a pond. Trails are free to the public and open from dawn to dusk every day of the year.

great little hike. well marked trails. in the trees so its shaded. pretty little creek. a little muddy in parts. also used by horseback riders so watch for poop. comprised of a lot of short trails so you can make the walk/hike as long or short as you want.

RunningMuddy

Great beginner trails for running. A little muddy and a few creek crossings -- my feet got pretty wet on the way back. The blazes/markings aren't always clear on the connection from Farmstead to Woodthrush. At the first historic cabin, we took a right onto the Little Turtle trail, follow it to Arnold trail and took another right, which connected to the Woodthrush loop. Headed back the way we came and back onto Farmstead, which ends in a loop.

First to Review

Wood Thrush and Farmstead loop are great trails, as are all of the trails at BRCES. Especially nice to have the creek crossings on 90+ degree days.
