When living locally in the 1990's and early 2000's, the small picturesque town of Paris was one of my favorite places in all of Northern Virginia. I loved exploring the area by way of US 50 and US 17. It is definitely a priority to properly hike Sky Meadows State Park on my next visit (and maybe spend a night at the Ashby Inn)!
This route is usually uncrowded but too many people are finding out about it. Especially in the afternoon.
It is all part of a nice shortcut system we use from South-Eastern Virginia to Western Pennsylvania. Not only does it cut off miles but DC traffic. It is a pleasent ride with a little sight-seeing thrown in.
