West Ditch Trail is a 8.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Suffolk, Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Another hot day but at least there is more variety on these trails.
One of only three trails in the park that allow motor vehicles. The three trails join together to travel to Lake Drummond. By the time you drive the 12 mile round trip you may be glad that you didn't walk. Actually, only the first two miles allow motor vehicles. Then you must turn left on Interior Ditch Trail to continue on towards Lake Drummond or you may finish the West Ditch Trail by bike or on foot. There is room to park at the junction. Be sure to walk the West Ditch Boardwalk on your way by. There is nowhere to park but if you are driving, just pull over to the right in case somebody needs to get by. All the way to the end of West Ditch Trail is South Ditch Trail, but I did not have time to explore it.
