Post Oak Trail, to Palmer’s Pond Trail, to Deer Run Trail, to the River Walk trail which ran together with Post Oak Trail, to the Old Fort Spur trail, to the Riverside River Trail, to the Grist Mill trail to the Rock Fish Trail to Journeys End Parking Lot D and then I took the road back to my car. I saw my first turtle on the trail who made sure to let me know he did not like my presence waking by. I also saw 50+ frogs, multiple schools of fish, tadpoles, 3 deer and a fast/scurrying lizard!

Another great time at Explore Park. Trails were a bit muddy and washed out in some places after a week of heavy rains. But great job by EP and Roanoke Co. organization in having made good trails that allow for proper run off.

Lots of trails, easy to get off track. Lots of trash near the river. Some good elevation.

Trails in need of maintenance. Only the yellow trail and blue trails were open. We did the yellow and it’s one way in, one way out. Lots of roots, branches, and overgrown weeds and briars. Trails are clearly marked.

Great hike! We did a mix of all trail colors. The river front trail, light blue, has larger rocks which weren't great to walk over but we made it over them-- and for a short amount of time, thank goodness. Will come back!

I would consider this easy not moderate. Beautiful view along the river several nice places to stop for a lunch. Good hike for kids and pets.

Rode the intermediate/yellow trail. Trails clearly marked but needed some TLC for the fallen trees and overgrown vegetation in some areas. Lots of roots but it was a fun ride. Didn't have time to check out rest of park but will definitely be back to do that.

VA Explore Park is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 115. It includes 1200 acres and lots of trail options with very nice facilities and a Parkway Visitor Center. I completed a section of the Old Salem Turnpike Trail, which loops around an historic area and follows along the Roanoke River for a short distance. I enjoyed exploring the old buildings.

The entrance to the Virginia Explore Park is located at MP 114.9 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are numerous trails inside the park. Stop in the Visitor Center and ask for a trail map. We hiked the Old Salem Turnpike Trail (red blaze) and took some time to look at the historic buildings.

Explore Park is conveniently located on the parkway just outside of Roanoke. There are multiple trail options for hiking and mountain biking but nothing extreme. The park gives great access to Roanoke River for kayaking or jus to bring the dog/kids to splash around. Nice local park, not a destination hike/park.
