Loose rocks, 1 HUGE incline. But overall, not bad. About 3.2 miles long

Great low mileage trail. Family friendly. Nice to walk along the river for a good portion of it. Not always well marked, but easy to follow with AllTrails. Had kids in backpacks. Finished in under 2 hours. Get there early. We finished at 10am Sunday Labor Day weekend and people were trolling for spots in the parking area. Nice family hike not a far drive from DC.

Great trail for a quick hike with the kids. Gives enough challenge to make you feel like you are doing more then a walk but easy enough for all levels.

It was an easy trail with a lot of flat ground. There were only a few places where there was more technical areas and only one place where you went uphill at a rapid pace.

Nice day hike trail. It’s family friendly trail with some challenging parts of the loop, which included large rocks and rooted out sections. Overall great hike!

Very few people, trails very well marked. PLenty of parking at 10:00 a.m. on a Friday morning, within walking distance of Paradise Springs winery.

Well marked, along a pretty river, rocky with a couple intense hills at times. Easy path with proximity to a nice winery!

HikingGreat!

This is a nice hike you can do if short on time. We walked it Sunday August 2nd around 1 pm. It was humid and maybe 91 degrees. There was shade almost the entire hike which made it fairly pleasant. We parked just past the winery, the gate to the Hemlock Park was closed so we just parked by the gate. They had folks who worked for the winery helping to guide you park your car since the winery gets very busy on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. There were several discarded plastic bags of doggy doo on the ground near the entrance of the park. There are a few steep inclines and declines and a rocky path next to the river, but nothing too challenging. Many people were swimming in the Bull Run, fishing, picnicking on the side. The whole loop took us about an hour and 10 minutes. Afterwards we left the car where it was and walked over to the winery.

This park had the perfect blend of rough and easy terrain, sun and shade, and plenty of critters. Plenty of dogs were there but be aware of the occasional snake, though they scurry away when you approach. My 4 year old son had a great time and enjoyed throwing rocks in the river. Taking the trail back uphill is quite the workout!
