Waypoints (0)

A solemn trail through the cemetery and monuments at the National Military Park at Fredricksburg and Spotsylvania. Accessibility: There are at least 4 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lots off of Lafayette Boulevard at the southeast end of the trail. All of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved with brick or natural surface and typically at least 3 feet wide. The estimated grade is mostly gentle (5% or less) except for steep to very steep (over 8%) uphill and downhill sections at about 0.0, 0.3, and 0.6 to 0.7 miles when going counterclockwise. Trail goers using wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers may need assistance in the steeper sections or to avoid them for safety. All-terrain tires or motorized equipment may be needed for the unpaved and potentially soft sections. There are benches and picnic tables along the route for resting. The most accessible portion of the trail is along Sunken Road which has its own trail page here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/sunken-road-fredericksburg-battlefield

Nice trail in a very historical area. Could have taken much longer if I had stopped to read all the markers. Some hills and elevation but overall a nice loop to walk/hike.

We recently moved to Fredericksburg and my son and I both play Pokemon Go! There are a bunch of gyms and stops here and pokemon are plentiful. All that aside, the history here is interesting, particularly the Innis house with all the musket ball holes in the walls.

Well defined moderately easy trail. There were a few, very few wet spots given all the recent rain but all in all there were many ways to pass and it was a beautiful day.

Lost of history on this trail and can be looped together with the Mary Highlights trail. Mostly on hard surfaces and is accessible by strollers and wheelchairs.

Another historical walk through history. Accessible by all. Well maintained and mostly on hard surfaces so strollers and wheelchairs shouldn’t be a problem.

Short hike on one of the deadliest sites at the Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg. On the easy side of moderate due to short length and gradual inclines. Interpretive signs help you imagine the battle on these grounds.

I’m a newbie & gearing up for Old Rag Mountain for my birthday in October. This is nice & easy & close to my work. Beautiful day to be out at lunch. Will definitely do this one again, but looking forward to some of the others around the ‘Burg.

First to Review

It's more of a walk than a hike for sure. Lot's of history on and around the trail. There is actually a section of the original wall that the Confederates were behind when they were firing downhill. The trail allows you to access the cemetery that has many union headstones in it. Stop by the visitor's center located at the start of the trail. They have a short film to watch about the battle that took place there with information that you won't find in biased history books even though it is hard to deny the Confederate victory. There is a museum right beside the visitor center. The park rangers are also helpful and there is no entrance fee to either site.
