It was great to be on the AT during parts of this trail. IMO the trail waa easy because it was never steep or rocky. I didn't need my ankle high hiking boots on this trail like on rocky trails.

Fairly level climbs and descents--nothing too steep, slippery, or narrow. No sweeping vistas, but a pleasant hike nonetheless. There is a small spring and a shelter with picnic table on the Saddleback Mountain trial portion of the route. The little cemetery spur isn't marked on the trail, but if you find it, there are a few older and a few renovated headstones.

The directions posted here about the trail are accurate, and you can park right on Skyline Drive where the AT crosses at the US 33 entrance.

Trail is dog-friendly.
