great trail. hiked in and made it to the end for a night stay, where this trail ends on this map , you turn left onto what the cement pillars say is big portal run trail (yellow blaze) for a little bit with 4-7 river crossings. towards the last 2 crossings you can go left for blue blaze again to continue the Rocky mountain trail loop back to where you started at the brown mtn overlook. Or go right for more of big portal run trl. I give the flexible number on fording because I went only two weeks after hurricane floerence followed by continuous rain fall. the water at big portal is normally alloooot lower. which made some of the trail water crossings chest deep. leaving me to find alternate routes that weren't so dangerous. overall its a great hike. just be prepared to potentially get wet and have your but kicked on the ascent back to the vehicle.
