Rice Fields Shelter is a 4.7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Narrows, Virginia that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, camping, and backpacking and is best used from April until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Loved this trail! The view was way better than I was expecting. Only ran into three people the whole time, even for a beautiful fall day. This segment is kind of short, but really easy to add on distance if you just keep hiking the AT either direction.

Gorgeous hike, just make sure you park along Pocahontas Road. Did this as a sunrise hike and it did not disappoint, even though it was foggy.
