This is a moderate difficulty loop trail which spans the Hungry Mother State Park and National Forest lands. At the trailhead, you cross a bridge over a creek, to reach the trail proper, with two forks, the left fork is a much steeper grade, with a series of switchbacks taking you to the top of Raiders Run in about 0.4 mi, and then to the intersection with Old Shawnee, which runs down to a mostly dry creek bed and then back up about 0.8 mi total to join back up with Raiders Run, with another 0.4 mi back to the trail head on a mostly downhill gradual slope. Well made trails, clearly blazed. Old Shawnee was a little muddy and slippery in places, Raiders Run seemed higher and drier. This trail complex provides a few different options for distance: doing just the Raiders Run loop is 0.9 mi; 1.8 mi for the combined loop; and almost 2 mi if you do a figure 8 and pass over the middle section of Raiders Run in both directions. Mostly lovely quiet and secluded, but there are a number of places along the trail where you are reminded of how close you are to development, both within the park and forest. Dogs on leash. Trailhead is in the Hungry Mother State Park so car parking fee applies. The trail can also be accessed from P4 within the park, by taking the short trail off the back end of the carpark and looking for the blue blazes, and there’s also an access spur trail between Old Shawnee and the Hemlock Haven conference facilities. There is a picnic facility with wood grills at the trail head.

This is nice short trail with some good elevation changes. Great tree cover to keep it cooler in the summer. The leaves block the views of the nearby mountains in the summer. There are excellent parking, picnic tables, and grills at the entrance to the trails.

easy little loop trail with lots of ups and downs. This used to be the old horse trail for Hungry mother State Park so it's not very long.
