Love this trail! We hiked it often when we lived near the area, once in the snow when the reeds were all covered in ice.

A great hike, but a couple precautions will make for a better experience. Check the tide chart and go at low tide or before full low. Use bug spray and sun block. Wear a wide brim hat to protect from the sun. You will be hiking on short grass, (easy), hard sand, (easy) soft sand, (a leg burner), and mud. (yikes) Most of the hike follows the shoreline of the James River. After you get around the point it will become harder to know where to walk so you will probably turn around shortly after the point.
