After leaving the hydro station I followed the trail along the river and simply picked what I thought was the most reasonable way to go up the mountain rather than searching for a trail that may or may have not existed. It was more of climbing than hiking until I reached the ridge and found the trail. The trail to the first pinnacle wasn’t bad but I couldn’t find it to the second or the real Pinnacle of Dan. I just climbed up the rocks and yes it was sketchy. There were several places I had to do some real rock climbing. I absolutely don’t recommend this for beginners or those not familiar with reading a map. Gorgeous up top but it has to be one of the most difficult hikes in this region. This isn’t just a hard hike but an exceptionally hard hike. Unless you can locate the trail up the mountain which I honestly didn’t even try after the other reviews. Bring extra water and protein bars!
