Great bike trail. Wide and hard packed for easy peddling. Combined this with the Yorktown Historic Battlefield loop for extra milage. We have had a lot of rain lately so it was wet and a little muddy but nothing a water hose can't take care of.

I live in Edgehill and this was a fantastic ride. Perfect for the family and relatively tame. Road through a piece of the Yorktown Battlefield and connected to the trail at Washington’s HQ. Highly recommend!

If you are looking to change up the NNP Bicycle Trail try this cutoff. The trail / gravel rail along the power lines is covered with broken rock so it can ge a tad aggravating to walk on but the trail that connects to the mail trail is covered with pine needles and grass and is a pleasure to walk on It’s a nice switch up from what can become a rather tedious if not boring path if you do NNP a lot. Try it.

Well traveled and peaceful ride. Highly recommend this one for new mountain bikers and those wanting to take the kiddos. This trail does NOT earn its moderate rating. Very easy ride!

Good place for a run, flat and winding with good coverage from the sun.

Great running trail. A few very small hills at the end. Best to run this September-May bugs will be an issue in the summer. The main campground building has bathrooms, water fountains, and Gatorade if the store is open. You may add on and run into Yorktown National battlefield or on other Newport News park trails. I feel relatively safe on this trail.

I ran on this trail. Barely anyone else out here. Flat with brief gradual inclines. Must be lightning fast for bikers as was a fast run for me. Shaded almost entire loop. Great for all levels.

Great beginner MTB trail! No obstacles, just flat trails. Nice simple 5+ mile loop. Perfect to get back into biking or to simply start biking. This trail will allow you to gain or regain some confidence and you’ll have more than enough space to working on anything you need to.

Pretty good hike. LOUD road noise for the first half-mile of the trail kind of kills the vibe a little bit though.

As far as a flat natural surface for biking goes, this bikeway is pretty nice. Start at the parking lot near the ranger station (at the camping entrance, not the main Newport News Park entrance). You’ll start on the paved road past the campsites then left onto the natural bikeway road. There are a few opportunities to exit the trail for other trails at Newport News Park (not for bikes) or to head into Yorktown/Colonial National Historical Park roads (use the Washington Headquarters path). The bikeway alone is about 5 miles, wide paths, lightly trafficked.

The bike path is flat so it was great for my knees, which don't run well on roots and steps and such. Really well kept, the Rangers around make it feel safe. Tons of wildlife though, saw a snake and a bunch of critters as well as about a million horse flies, so be careful!

We've just moved to the area, and have fallen in love w/Newport News Park. The bikeway is an easy ride for beginners and a good quick workout for more seasoned riders. The bikeway is nice and wide, mostly flat, but traverses through some very nice wooded scenery. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, you might be surprised by what you see. Enjoy your ride!!!
