This is a Rail to Trail that is great nice views of the river most of the way. lots of parking areas along the trail not many shuttle options the one i found was very accommodating ( New River Rentals ) in Fries. We rode it in 2 days 1 day Galax to Fries to Foster Falls 39.6 miles day 2 Foster Falls to Pulaski 22.2 miles. not very crowed, shaded most of the way.

Beautiful spot to view from up high, but not very convenient to access the river from Galax or Fries. I have family with a cabin and have visited for fly fishing. Otherwise the parking nearby has a fee.
•Galax - Parking is available where Route 58 crosses Chestnut Creek. Parking fee required.
•Cliffview - Take Route 58 to Galax;
•Fries - From Route 94, go south to town. Parking is available near the town park. Parking fee required.
