Walking

Nice and easy walk along the bike trail that runs alongside the George Washington Parkway. Several good vantage points to see Dyke Marsh. Also several great views of the Potomac and the National Harbor.

Nice trail for walking / jogging / biking. Unfortunately, not much in way of good sights. Still a decent trail for a little break.

Great fall weather trail with trees turning colors and views of the Potomac River. Moderate but reasonable activity on trail.

Great trail. Only downside is next to noisy road, but the scenery is so beautiful it’s well worth it.

Hiking

We took a wrong turn and headed down Dyke Marsh’s trail, which is marked, unlike the proper trail. Parking is fantastic as there’s a free lot at the marina. The trail is paved, along George Washington pkwy. On a sunny February day there were a lot of bikers and folks walking dogs. It’ll be very pretty scenery come the spring so I’d go back then.

8-18, Love this trail for walking/ running. The boardwalk offers very nice views. Certain sections can be very crowded but it thins out the further you are from the parking area. Very pretty flowers along the trail

This is a nice section of the Mount Vernon Trail just south of Old Town Alexandria. Back when I lived in the area, I enjoyed trail running and bicycling here, with pretty views of the Potomac River and the marsh/wildlife area.

Running

This is an extremely easy trail. It is entirely paved, with a few small bridges. The trail is most popular for walking, running, and (regular) bicycling. Regular users are considerate of the shared space, and cyclists are good about warning runners and walkers when they are approaching.

Pretty walk and very easy. The boardwalk leads to a nice view at the end. Heavily trafficked.
