Monitor Merrimac Overlook Park Trail is a 0.3 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Newport News, Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Hiking

Has some historical markers that detail the naval battle of Hampton Roads (Battle of the Monitor and Merrimac) that took place just off here. It's just a paved path that goes down to the fishing pier. Fun but nothing spectacular.
