Fun hike full of things to see along the way. We started on the Waterfall trail, then onto Catwalk and finished the loop back on Butternut. There is a map at the beginning that gives direction to all of the (many) options & trails. When you take/climb Waterfall, (I say climb because it gets pretty steep in places), you will come to many beautiful picturesque scenes before finally reaching the most beautiful view. I didn't realize from the description in this app that I'd be hiking along a beautiful stream and would ultimately see a gorgeous fall. Onto Catwalk which we found to be a very narrow path full of trees, wildflowers, wildlife and beauty. I was not prepared for this hike to be so thick with trees and brush. You feel like you're in a rainforest at times due to the tree canopy and bird calls, You will continue to climb once you reach Butternut, but a change in terrain indicates you are further from the water and into the last leg of this hike. When you finally start to descend down the mountain, it's fairly steep. This trail is not as well traveled as the others and boots and long pants would be recommended. The brush can be thick in places and I was nervous about snakes the whole way. (We came across quite a few). There is heavier traffic along the Waterfall trail but the others were almost empty. Go prepared with lots of water and snacks as it is actually a pretty rigorous trek. Map at the bottom says "difficult" as opposed to the "moderate" here. I'd say it's the "Be Prepared" kind of moderate. :)

Great time and beautiful trail. Went up Butternut to Old Rhodie, at the top I left the trail to the AT for a beautiful view. Back to Rhodie, then Pine Road, to Catwalk, to Falls trail. Ate lunch beside one of the numerous falls across the trail. LIFE IS GOOD!
