I’m a beginner kicker who hasn’t worked out in 6 months. It was a good hike and I was winded on the way up. Great views at a few stopping points. Was rocky so you had to watch your step on the way down.

This approach is a great hike for kids. My 3-year old loved it, especially because there's a tree that looks like an old man, a CCC chimney, and several viewpoints along the ridge. The Meadow Spring parking lot is very small and serves multiple trails, but they do allow parking on the road as long as your car is inside the curb.

Enjoyed this hike starting at Meadow Springs. The view from Mary’s rock is worth the climb. The trail was not super crowded although as we got closer to Mary’s rock we saw lots of people. Since the trail was pretty quiet we brought our bear bells and were glad we did as we ran into a bear on the trail on our return. Of course we clapped and yelled and it immediately ran into the woods. Fun experience after seeing such a cool view.

This is the easiest way to go Mary’s rock!! It’s short and more scenic views! Less crowded too! You will pass ruins and a fireplace furnace. You will enjoy the hike. It can be muddy cause there is a small water stream going down a long the trail. When you get to the top it will get super rocky. Since it’s a short hike you can spend more time on the top. Highly recommend eating lunch in there. It’s quite cool.

Nice shaded hike up, up, up. A beautiful overlook rewards you once you make it to the top. Our 10, 7, and 4 year old hiked it with no issue.

Great family hike! The views are incredible and there are multiple spots as you get to the top that you can see a beautiful view. We really enjoyed this hike. We did this hike with our 3 and 7yr old and it took us about 3 hrs total including us stopping for a while to take in the beautiful scenery. We highly recommend this hike!

Great hike! steep at first and very rocky so watch your step. Trail flattens out towards the top. There are a few great rocks to stop at before the summit that also make for great views. Full 360 views at the summit!

26March2020- Parking was full when I arrived at 5pm , a bit of a cardiovascular workout on the uphill climb up. Passed by a few hikers from young couples with kids to older adults and a group of teenagers. Not much shade and it was mildly warm enough as is. The view was amazing up too, had the whole rock to myself and enjoyed lunch and a good read before descending while the sun was setting. Got lost and caught myself when the path got unrecognizable right as I was heading down in between Marys Rock trail and the AT! Would recommend as a quick workout hike, poles would be a nice touch as it is a bit rocky up top and while ascending. No critters or mosquitoes either which was a bonus !

Went south at AT, not up to Mary’s Rock to avoid all the people. Lovely hike along AT ridge past Byrd’s shelter.
