Very well maintained trail system with a ton of signage. Based on the length you are looking for, you can combine trails to make it longer if you like. Day parking was $5.00 on a Sunday. Really enjoyable hike.

Love this little hike. I’ll usually combine with other trails and make it a loop. I was sad when the Majestic Oak fell.

York River State Park has a trail network large enough to suite most anyone. For this trip we added Powhatan Fork trail, Beaver trail and the Fossil beach to make right at 7 miles. We saw maybe a dozen people so it was pretty quiet. Expect biting flies and, if you bring your dog, be aware that some of the trails are shared with horse riders. It costs $5 to park.

Running

The most enjoyable part of the park is to follow the Majestic Oak Trail over a bluff and down to footbridge crossing the marsh and before returning on the Powhatan Forks Trail. Its not shown on this map, but detour onto the short Eastern fork of the Powhatan Forks trail from a short jog up to an overlook with the best views in the park.

We actually went on another trail that formed a loop back towards the start totaling 5 miles. Nice hike through the woods and leads to a huge fallen oak tree which was cool to climb on :) If your up for more mileage consider continuing on Powhatan Forks trail. It has a few more climbs and a portion is near the York river.

One of York River State Park's many beautiful trails. It was a bright sunshiney day and just cool enough to make walking a joy.
