cut it to the shorter hike since the trail was pretty icy. amazing views though.
Nice trail. Well marked. Icy in spots with about 2-3 in. Of snow on the trail. Only saw 1 other person doing the full loop. Went counter clockwise. Only took about two and a half hours. Forgot to hit record so only shows from the summit on
This trail was super fun to hike. We went while there was still a decent amount of snow on the ground, which made for some beautiful scenery. The trail has multiple overlooks and spots to stop and see the valley with each one getting better as you go up! There were a few portions of the trail where it was very helpful to have the map downloaded because the trail splits off in multiple directions or the markers were a bit confusing. Overall, though, it was a wonderful hike!!
Very quiet on the loop. We felt like we certainly conquered the whole mountain! Wonderful hike!
Beautiful trail with multiple magnificent overlooks! The last part of the trail was rather hazardous though, as ice had not melted and it was difficult to get traction (wearing hiking boots). A bit of a confusion at the very end as to where the trail led; we ended up walking to the lodge and finding the parking lot from there, but even that was a nice detour. We were the only ones on the trail.
Outstanding views at the overlooks, particularly at Little Stony Man. Without the leaves on the trees, there is a persistent view all along the ridge line as well. Quite a narrow, rocky trail most of the time with a couple of tricky spots, but no scrambling. It was quite busy on a Saturday but most people wore masks and the Little Stony Man overlook is large enough for folks to spread out. Overall a pleasant trail, on the easy side of moderate in terms of elevation changes but quite rocky and narrow along the ridge.
