Trail today was a bit muddy and water logged in some spots. But it is a nice hike. Parked at the entrance and did the trail and walked back Along the road. Road is safe and you see and read more history. Have to try the Cabin trail next time when not so wet b

This was an extremely easy walk - there's no reason it should be rated as moderate. With that said, this was a nice oasis of calm in the middle of surburbia; you definitely aren't getting away from it all, but it's a lovely forest. We followed others' advice and walked back down the road after walking up the trail. We ended up with a pleasant romp through the woods followed by a little history lesson. It rained two days ago and a good part of the trail doubled as a stream bed when we were there. We only passed three people on the trail so things were nice and quiet. Just be aware that the trail is not marked particularly well, but it's still easy to follow.

Coach A challenging day. I cruised most of the way. My legs are sore today. But again, thanks to you I’ve accomplished my goal.

Well coach I did it. I listened to you and I didn’t do too much. I didn’t want to injure my muscles. As you said before “don’t push yourself too much.” Thanks for the encouragement. My ride was a success and I feel good. Oh, on last thing...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

OMG. My first moderate road. Underestimated the grades of the hills. Had to walk 2x. That monster hill, what can I say...never again. I’ll be back. Overall, a good challenge. My legs are screaming!!

HikingGreat!

I parked at the small lot by the Lansdowne Road and Lee Drive intersection and walked the first half on the road. It was nice and mostly shaded and I stopped at the historic markers along the way. There were quite a few cars but they shared the road well. I passed several walkers, runners, and bikers. The road ended at Prospect Hill (it has a larger parking lot) and I picked up the Lee Drive trail there. The wooded trail was easy to follow and I only passed a handful of people. I heard a lot of gunshots which interrupted the peacefulness of my hike (there must be a range nearby). I would definitely do this hike again, especially once the leaves start changing colors. There’s another trail at Prospect Hill I’ll check out another day.

HikingBlowdown

Only three stars today because there was a tree blocking the trail and no way to get around it. The lower elevations on the trail were fairly muddy, but not impassable. It would be a nice hike if the tree wasn't in the way.

Nice walking trail, well marked. We walked the paved road and then entered from the back to make it more of a loop...

Good workout for adults, but not for smaller children. Would also be a great trail run.

A bit muddy in spots. The trail works much better if you make a loop out of it (instead of an out & back) by taking the actual Lee Drive Road back. There’s a bunch of signs and monuments explaining the history of the place that are missing from the trail proper.

Hiking

Fairly easy hike. Not much with elevation change. Blue-blazed the whole way although some are a bit faded. There’s about 6 parking spaces at near the entrance and a handful up by Prospect Hill. Park closes at sunset and opens at sunrise. Definitely a good trail to run!

Running

Pretty decent trail for its length and location. Don’t be the first on the trail in the summer because the spiders are ridiculous. Great canopy. Just enough light gets through with getting burned. Best for cross training if you take Lee Dr to the end first and return to the entrance of the eastern section of Lee Dr on the trail.
