Easy paved trail. It's called the Reservoir Trail, but you can't really see the lake at all from the trail. Basically just a path through the trees. Good for people with physical limitations or young children, but kind of boring if you are looking for much of a challenge or scenery. I personally enjoyed walking around the roads to the campsites more.
Not really any alternatives in the area.

Kerr Reservoir is a huge lake with many miles of shoreline, so I have no idea if I took the right fishing access trail. But it was a beautiful day for a walk down to the water.
