Gold Dust Trail is a 3.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Powhatan, Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Easy hike for the family. Has a playground, camp ground for tents along with a canoe launch. Rest rooms were extremely clean and well taken care of.
We actually hiked a combination of the Gold Dust, River, and Turkey trails. The Gold Dust is the only trail in the park that is rated "Moderate", though compared with some of the other "Moderate" trails in the State Park System, I would rate it "marginally Moderate". It is also the only single-use trail (hiking only). Though the weather was a little warm for the time of year, we had a very enjoyable hike. The views of the James River were nice, and the trail was wide and clear. We did notice some blazes, but they were spotty. I can only hope this is because the park is relatively new, and blazing is a work in progress.
